Doug BarnesDOUGLAS BARNES
Owner, Producer, and Co-Host of The Season Pass Podcast.

Doug has been a lifelong fan of theme parks. Born and raised in Northern California, he was blessed with a family who regularly took him to the great California parks, such as Great America, Universal Studios Hollywood, Knott’s Berry Farm, Magic Mountain, and Disneyland. Always intrigued by the creative process of attraction design and production, Doug, in his high school years, made many sketches of park attractions with the ultimate goal to become an engineer and ride designer; but, life changes and fatherhood took control. In 2007, Doug brought his passion for theme parks into the relatively new medium, podcasting; hence, The Season Pass Podcast (TSPP) began. When Super 78’s Brent Young heard Doug’s podcast, what started as a 30 minute Doug’s rants, raves, and reviews, quickly shifted into a biographical podcast about the attraction creators and the stories that brought the themed entertainment industry to what it is today. TSPP has had the honor of interviewing hundreds of brilliant minds, including ride creators, show writers, park designers, culinary executives, park managers, CEOs, haunt and maze designers, and innumerable others. TSPP is now privileged with the opportunity of being the choice podcast to share the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA) with the public, and produces multiple TEA-based shows, such as the Thea Awards and the TEA Summit. TSPP is also well known for the most Halloween coverage of any theme park podcast on the planet. TSPP is the only publisher approved by Knott’s to record, produce and distribute live experience media for the VIP Trapped mazes at Knott’s Scary Farm.
