Wicked Lit presents the world premiere of Edgar Allen Poe's "Tell Tale Heart"
See the world premiere adaptation of Unbound Production's THE TELL-TALE HEART! Limited run, fully produced theatre-performance will be staged as a part of ScareLA, the first annual Los Angeles Halloween Convention at the LA Mart. Tickets are $15 with your admission ticket to ScareLA (use code SCARELA), $20 without. Purchase here. All day Saturday and Sunday we'll be screening a rotating line up of horror short films presented by the Jumpcut Cafe, haunt walk thru videos by Theme Park Adventure, and other Halloween themed programs in our own pop-up theatre.
All Day: Bone Yard FX Demonstrations
Throughout Saturday and Sunday, Bone Yard Effects will be doing live demonstrations showcasing the various techniques and skills that make them one of the top special effects makeup companies in the world. Watch up close as they turn mere mortals into walking corpses, monsters, and various creatures of the night!
Sunday morning, Fear Freak level passholders are invited to participate in a hands on workshop led by Bone Yard FX founderLarry Bones: Zombie Prosthetics 101. (reservations required)
11:30am-12:30pm: Bob Burns - A Haunt Legend In 3-D!
Join Bob Burns, legendary home haunter and original Ghostbuster (Tracy the Gorilla from Filmation's "The Ghost Busters") as he revisits his home haunts and monster memories over the last 60 years, as captured in 3-D photos. Presentation produced by Eric Kurland and the LA 3-D Club.
12:30pm: Jason Blum Presentation
A presentation by horror film producer Jason Blum ("The Purge," the "Paranormal Activity" series, "Sinister" and "Insidious"), who recently made a splash on the L.A. Halloween scene with his interactive haunt production named "The Blumhouse of Horrors."
12pm-1pm: Scary Women: The Female of the Species is Deadlier Than The Male
Is gender an issue in the horror genre? Are female haunters, horror filmmakers, journalists and fans that much different from male equivalents? Is there still a glass ceiling in scary Hollywood? Join a group of professional horror industry women as they discuss the role of gender on screen, behind the camera and in the maze. Moderated by Jill Kill. Panelists: Tammi Sutton, Alyse Wax, Brooke Walters, Rebekah McKendry, and Heidi Martinuzzi. Presented by Fangoria.
1:30pm-2:30pm: John Murdy and Chris Williams Halloween Horror Nights Presentation
Richard Carradine of the Ghosthunters of Urban Los Angeles makes the claim that L.A. is the most haunted city in the world. Join him and guests, including Rich Berni from Boyle Heights Paranormal Project, as they discuss the ghosts of Los Angeles, ghost hunting, paranormal tourism, and other ways anyone can get up close and personal with the supernatural.
4:30pm-5:30pm: Garner Holt: From Haunted Attractions to World-Class Theme Parks
Industry legend and animatronics expert Garner Holt engages fans with a look at the evolution of animatronics in the themed entertainment industry and their inclusion in haunted attractions around the world. Inspired by a visit to Disneyland as a teenager, Holt started a business building animatronic models in his parent's garage to become one of the world's leading experts. Join him and learn about how he turned a childhood passion into lifelong career. In conversation with Bill Butler, director of creative design at Garner Holt Productions.
On Sunday, Aug 11, Captured Aural Phantasy Theater (CAPS) combines the art, drama and comedy of a vintage radio program with the live entertainment of a variety show. For ScareLA, CAPS will bring to life nuggets straight from the heyday of comic book horror (the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s) through live performances of vintage comic ghost stories, ads, comedic bits, music and special surprises!

Join Daniel Roebuck (HALLOWEEN 2, WALKING DEAD, LOST) as he "cracks open the door" to Dr. Shocker's Vault of Horror, his latest DVD project!
Hosted by the irascible Dr. Shocker and dimwitted assistant Igor, this newest DVD from the makers of HALLOWEEN; THE HAPPY HAUNTING OF AMERICA, will feature a veritable BOO-POURRI of ghoulish treats including MONSTERMANIACS, a new documentary about the monster collecting craze.

From 11am to 2pm Sunday, ScareLA will include a line up of presentations and activities intended for the ankle biters, and haunters who enjoy the more family friendly side of scares. More details to be announced soon!

The lowering cost of technology and increased skills of enthusiast haunters are turning common homes into theme park
grade haunted attractions nation-wide. Learn about three top local home haunts taking yard displays to the next level with cutting-edge special effects, props and show control systems. Panelists include Matt Ford, owner of The House at Haunted Hill, Glenn Schmidt and Shea Foley from Boot Hill, and Eric Maurin and Rick Ouwerkerk from House of Restless Spirits.
11:30am-12pm: Amber Benson reads "The 13 Nights of Halloween"
Actress Amber Benson ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer") reads Guy Vasilovich's "12 Days of Christmas" inspired children's book, "The 13 Nights of Halloween." Presented by Dark Delicacies.
12pm-12:30pm: Halloween Kid preview
A sneak preview and behind the scenes look at the upcoming animated TV special, "Halloween Kid," written and directed by Rhode Montijo, based on his book.
12:30pm - 3pm: Eric Fox Makeup Demo and Meet and Greet
Eric Fox, special effects artist for MorbX FX and challenger on season four of Syfy’s "FaceOff," will be doing a makeup demo of an industrial sci-fi creature makeup on Scream Team Productions booth. Stick around after the demonstration to meet this talented creature creator.
Learn about the art of sound design for haunted attractions from audio wiz Jon Autopsy, Rob Perez, Chris Thomas (composer, Los Angeles Haunted Hayride), and moderated by Jeff Scheifelbein, who will demonstrate how sound and music are used in haunted attractions to bring a nightmare to your ears.

True stories of L.A.'s weird, morbid, and eccentric history. With Kim Cooper from Esotouric, Heather Schlegel (Cacophony Society), and author Joe Oesterle (Weird Hollywood and Weird California). Moderated by Hidden LA'sLynn Garrett.
4pm-5pm: Extreme Mazes: Pushing the Limits of Terror
Pushing the boundaries well beyond standard "Boo!" scares, "extreme" haunts are the new rage; from monsters that touch and menace you, to intense immersive environments and nightmarish verbal abuse, meet the terror masters behind several of the most unnerving, brutal haunted attractions including JT Mollner (Freakling Brothers), Russ McKamey (McKamey Manor), and Josh Randall (Blackout).
